The waste generated when preparing coffee contains a lot of energy which, up until now, has not been taken advantage of. At Up! we collect this waste to produce a clean energy source, recycling it in the form of biomass – small grains used in biomass boilers and heaters to produce heat.
Using the existing energy in n the waste we generate not only keeps our environment clean, but also helps avoid the use of fossil fuels (oil, gas, coal) that cause so much damage to the environment.
We call it common sense.
DSecond to water, coffee is the most widely consumed beverage on the planet and generates a highly usable waste.
If we compare coffee grounds with the wood used for creating biomass fuel, we can say that coffee grounds are:
more calorific – produce ash; emit CO (carbon monoxide).
+ calorífico; emite – cenizas; emite – CO (monóxido de carbono).
But what does this mean?
First of all, it means that less material is needed to produce the same amount of heat, which implies a cost saving. Secondly, biomass boilers and heaters require less maintenance, which means further savings. And, lastly, biomass reduces the risk of respiratory diseases.
